Moz Pro starts at $49 per month for Starter, $99 for Standard, and more for Medium and Large Plans. Whether that is a sensible purchase depends on how much SEO research you want to do yourself and who will turn the findings into changes on your website.
The subscription buys research, monitoring, and recommendations. You still need someone to turn that into a strategy and complete the work. For a busy business owner, that responsibility matters more than a small difference in subscription prices.
Moz pricing
Before comparing plans, establish which tools you actually want to operate. If you want to research keywords, inspect links, monitor rankings, and investigate website issues, Moz Pro gives you tools for that work.
If your question is “What should my business do next?”, access to those tools leaves you with another task: interpreting the findings.
I separate the buying decision into three parts:
-
Subscription fee: What you pay for access.
-
Usage allowances: How many campaigns, tracked keywords, queries, and crawls you can use.
-
Remaining work/cost: Who researches, prioritizes, writes, and implements changes.
The remaining work is the most important part. A low-cost subscription has little value if nobody has time to act on it.
Moz also lists Moz API as a separate product. Do not assume that buying Moz Pro includes a particular paid API subscription.

What does each Moz Pro plan include?
Here are the usage limits for all four Moz Pro plans, including Starter.
| Plan | Tracked sites | Tracked keywords | Pages crawled per week | User seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1 | 50 | 5,000 | 1 |
| Standard | 3 | 300 | 100,000 | 1 |
| Medium | 10 | 1,500 | 500,000 | 2 |
| Large | 25 | 3,000 | 1,250,000 | 3 |
| Plan | Keyword queries per month | Backlink queries per month |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 75 | 75 |
| Standard | 150 | 5,000 |
| Medium | 5,000 | 20,000 |
| Large | 15,000 | 70,000 |

Tracked keywords and keyword queries serve different purposes. Tracking monitors selected terms over time. A query is a research request. Starter lets you monitor 50 keywords and run 75 keyword research queries each month.
Crawl allowances count crawling activity, not distinct pages on your website. Repeated crawls of the same pages use that allowance.
Standard includes 2 AI content briefs per month, Medium includes 10, and Large includes 50.
Standard, Medium, and Large also include AI visibility tracking. Standard includes 3 AI visibility dashboards and 150 tracked prompts, Medium includes 6 dashboards and 300 prompts, and Large includes 12 dashboards and 600 prompts. Each tracks prompts weekly across three AI models.
Who is each Moz Pro plan for?
Starter is the entry-level option for an individual managing one website. Start here if you want the lowest subscription price, then compare its allowances with the research and tracking you actually need.
Standard fits a small business with a defined set of research priorities. It includes three tracked sites and 300 tracked keywords. Its 150 monthly keyword queries deserve attention if you expect to research many topics.
Medium fits a larger research workload or several websites. It raises the keyword-query allowance to 5,000 and includes a second user seat, making it a more practical choice for ongoing research shared between two people.
Large is a capacity purchase. It suits someone who needs more sites, tracked keywords, research queries, and content briefs. A larger business does not automatically need the largest subscription.
These are capacity decisions. The later comparison with Rank-Hub addresses a different choice: whether you want to operate research tools or have your strategy and next steps worked out for you.
SEO Moz pricing
How much does Moz cost per year?
Moz advertises a 20% discount when you pay yearly. Its annual billing options for Standard, Medium, and Large are:
| Moz Pro plan | Advertised monthly equivalent | First-year bill |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $79 | $950 |
| Medium | $143 | $1,719 |
| Large | $239 | $2,868 |
Source: Moz’s official pricing page.
You pay the annual bill upfront, rather than paying the advertised monthly equivalent each month. The monthly equivalents are rounded, so use the annual bill when budgeting.
Is Moz annual billing worth it?
Choose annual billing once the software has an established place in your workflow and you can comfortably afford the upfront commitment.
I would keep the decision tied to completed work. Have you used the research to choose a priority? Has someone changed a page, published useful content, or resolved an issue because of it? Those are better reasons to commit than the advertised discount alone.
Compare the actual annual invoice, applicable taxes, required extras, and renewal terms. An unused annual subscription can cost more than a few months of higher-priced monthly access.
Does Moz offer a free trial?
Yes. Moz’s pricing page offers a free trial of the Medium plan.
Give the trial a concrete job:
-
Research a search that could bring a customer to your business.
-
Inspect a relevant page or technical issue.
-
Decide what should change and who will make that change.
The useful output is a decision you can act on. A report you cannot translate into work leaves the central question unanswered.
Can you use Moz for free?
Limited free access includes 10 Keyword Explorer queries and 10 Link Explorer queries per month, plus limited MozBar functionality.
That can suit occasional lookups. It gives you less room for exploring several topics, comparing alternatives, and revisiting research as your plans develop.
Be careful about making Domain Authority the goal. It is Moz’s comparative metric, not a Google ranking score. Spending money to monitor or increase that number does not, by itself, create a customer-acquisition strategy.
Learning the platform is also separate from deciding whether to buy SEO training. For that decision, see Moz Academy Review: Are Moz’s SEO Courses Worth Your Time?.
How much does Moz API cost?
Moz API has a free tier and paid plans starting at $20 per month. It is a separate purchase for programmatic access to Moz data, rather than a requirement for ordinary keyword research in Moz Pro.
A row is usually one result returned, not one website checked or one request made. For example, if you retrieve a list of 1,000 backlinks pointing to one website, each returned backlink counts as a row. That list uses 1,000 rows, not one row for the website. Asking only for a summary metric, such as the website’s total backlink count, is different from retrieving the individual links.
Use the table below to budget for how many results you need each month. Some API methods have higher row charges per result, so the method and options you choose also affect usage. Moz’s API pricing FAQ explains how rows are counted.
| Moz API option | Monthly price | Included rows per month | Overage charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 | None offered |
| Starter, Medium volume | $20 | 3,000 | None offered |
| Starter, Large volume | $75 | 15,000 | $5 per 1,000 rows |
| Growth, Small volume | $125 | 50,000 | $25 per 10,000 rows |
| Growth, Medium volume | $250 | 120,000 | $20 per 10,000 rows |
| Growth, Large volume | $500 | 500,000 | $10 per 10,000 rows |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Custom volume above 4 million rows | Custom terms |
Source: Moz’s official API pricing page.
Free access allows one request every ten seconds, up to the monthly row allowance. Paid usage is priced in rows, so do not treat one request as one row when estimating your costs.
If you are building a commercial product with Moz data, Moz directs you to its sales team for custom terms.
Is Moz worth the money?
When is Moz Pro good value?
Moz Pro is more likely to earn its price when a named person owns the research and can use it to direct changes.
That person needs to understand which searches matter commercially, how to interpret the findings, and what the business can realistically implement. Under those conditions, the allowances become a practical capacity decision.
For a closer feature assessment, see Moz Pro Review 2026: Is Moz Worth It for Founders Who Just Want Results?.
When is Moz Pro not worth it?
Moz is a weak purchase when you need business-specific direction and nobody has time to turn research into a plan.
More campaigns will not resolve uncertainty about which searches attract customers. More data will not assign a developer, write a useful page, or choose between competing priorities.
Test coverage in your own niche, too. Research commercially important searches and your actual competitors. A platform’s general reputation cannot tell you whether the information available for your business will be useful.
If an earlier subscription went unused, treat that as evidence about the product’s fit with your available time. You may need a different allocation of responsibility rather than another research subscription.
How much does SEO typically cost per month?
There is no useful single price without an agreed scope. Software provides capabilities. A freelancer, consultant, or agency sells a defined amount of expertise and work.
For budgeting, use this framework:
Total SEO cost = subscription fees + implementation expenses + the value of your time.
Compare quotes by the work included, not just the monthly fee. A low retainer that covers reports alone is a different purchase from one that includes writing and website changes.
Ask a service provider to specify who researches priorities, who writes or changes pages, who handles technical implementation, who approves the work, and how progress is evaluated.
Pay particular attention to implementation. A quote that includes recommendations can leave you responsible for finding someone to apply them.
What are the alternatives to Moz?
Your alternatives depend on which responsibility you want to move off your desk.
Another research platform keeps the research-led workflow. A human SEO service can take on an agreed scope of planning and implementation. Learning through a course keeps the work with you while building your ability to do it. Rank-Hub takes a consultant-style approach to strategy and execution support.
These are different purchases. Compare them by the work left with you after paying.
For a broader comparison, see Moz Alternative Options for Small Businesses. If your shortlist includes another reporting-oriented product, WooRank vs Moz: Which SEO Tool Is Right for You? addresses that narrower choice.
When you need an SEO plan, not another research subscription
If you are pricing Moz because you want more customers from Google but lack the time or SEO experience to turn research into a plan, Rank-Hub is the better fit. Buying more research capacity does not remove that responsibility from your desk.
Rank-Hub gives you an AI SEO consultant running your search strategy, with the thinking visible rather than hidden behind a report. It works out what your business makes money on and which searches can bring customers, commits that to a written strategy, and turns it into traffic opportunities, the exact changes to make with the evidence and reasoning attached. The consultant researches, prepares briefs, and writes articles with you, asking only for what only you know so the work fits your business.
You approve every article before it goes live. Optional automatic publishing requires a setup step and publishes only articles you have already approved. You or your team apply the specified website changes: copy the instructions to a coding agent, hand them to a developer or designer, or invite that person into your team. Most traffic opportunities also identify your site’s technology and explain how to implement the change, such as updating a meta description in Next.js.
The buying decision is whether you want to conduct the research yourself or have the strategy, reasoning, and implementation instructions supplied. For the detailed differences, read the Moz and Rank-Hub head-to-head comparison.
Give Rank-Hub your domain and you get your strategy, your topic map, one finished traffic opportunity and one finished article for your site, a few hundred dollars of consultant work, on the house.
